KickStart Support Offered Through The Job Gym

If you’re getting involved in the KickStart Scheme, we’re offering funding and training to support young people across Greater Manchester.

 

 

 

What is Kickstart?

The Government’s new Kickstart Scheme is a new £2 billion government fund, that will pay employers across the UK to create 6-month work placements for young people aged 16-24, claiming Universal Credit, and at risk of long-term unemployment. Our parent company, Mantra Learning, is a recognised gateway provider for KickStart, and is supporting all logistics employers who can offer up to 30 placements across Greater Manchester in developing opportunities for young people to develop skills and gain priceless career experience.

 

How Does KickStart Work?

To achieve these objectives, the Government has specified that the roles created must be:

  • A minimum of 25 hours per week, for six months;
  • Be new roles, and not a result of vacancies or cause others to lose employment
  • Participants must be paid at least the National Minimum Wage for their age group.

Our KickStart Package

To support Mantra Learning, we, at The Job Gym, are helping each participant into placements and beyond, by providing training and support before, during, and after placement. This includes:

  • Specialised Logistics training including Health and Safety, Warehouse skills, Customer Service, FLT, LGV, and more;
  • COVID-19 control training;
  • Sector-specific licenses (FLT & LGV);
  • Basic PPE equipment required for the role.

 

Our Courses

You can choose between 5 different packages that will develop your participant in several key competencies for a variety of Logistics job roles. These are:

  • LGV Pathway;
  • Warehouse Pathway;
  • Logistics Administration Pathway;
  • Courier Pathway;
  • Contact Centre Pathway.

 

Support for Applicants

As well as the Kickstart specifications, we are also offering career support, functional skills support, and apprenticeship guidance to applicants. Although Kickstart is not an apprenticeship, participants can progress onto an apprenticeship once the placement has been successfully completed. This position will then be open to another Kickstart candidate once the first applicant has completed their six-month term.
