The Job Gym at Mantra Learning
Mantra Learning delivers pre-employment programmes under its unique Job Gym brand, which gives learners a sense of belonging and membership and is widely recognised by JCP and other referral agencies.
Mantra’s Middleton centre offers good public transport links, free off road parking, on site canteen providing low cost healthy eating and free tea and coffee. It has a dedicated ‘workout room’ for job seekers to use in their job searching and preparation for interview. This includes IT facilities with Internet access and helps to get job seekers out of the house and focused on looking for work. We have a similar facility in Warrington and a specialist contact centre training facility in Stockport.
The Warehouse Technology Group
The Warehouse Technology Group includes 19 suppliers to the logistics industry who have come together to create the Logistics Research and Innovation Centre (LRIC), a state of the art learning facility for logistics companies and people seeking work in the logistics sector. See www.wtglive.com
Focused on preparing people for work
The Job Gym provides a blend of work skills, skills for life and practical craft skills training using a mix of funding streams designed to help unemployed people get back into work in sectors that have a high rate of churn and are constantly recruiting. Unemployed learners train alongside employed learners, giving them a better appreciation of the job market and reduces the sense of isolation that is often associated with being out of work.
Mantra tutors are industry experienced operators who ensure that job seekers are fully prepared to move into work – knowing how to behave; what to expect; what the dangers are and how to deal with them etc. They pass on the skills that they know employers need in their operations.
Mantra helps job seekers develop their English and maths skills through our Skills for Life Centre incorporating Learndirect.
Workshops, one-to-one coaching and mentoring is provided in work skills including interview skills, mock interview practice, cv building, application letters etc. The focus is on helping to build learners’ self-confidence to give them the best chance in an interview situation.
Tackling barriers to employment
Mantra has extensive experience in working with people with barriers to employment and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Its unique combination of one-to-one support and activity-based learning is proven to deliver successful outcomes. These learners are also more likely to progress to further learning as a result of their experiences with Mantra. Learners can progress to one of Mantra’s fully funded vocational skills programmes that will prepare them for employment in a sector such as warehousing and storage, truck driving or contact centres.
Outstanding job outcomes
Mantra has an impressive track record in delivering pre-employment programmes and in the last full academic year has achieved 909 job outcomes – nearly half of all our learners.
Once in employment we can continue to support the learner with further learning in order to ensure secure employment and facilitate progression. Such programmes include licence acquisition training for forklift truck, HGV etc. An apprenticeship in warehousing and storage or team leading and health and safety qualifications as may be required.
