Warehouse Skills Booster

You will learn, develop and practise the skills required to gain employment or career progression in the warehousing and storage sector.  You can also gain an RTITB Pedestrian Operated Lift Truck licence.You can join the fully funded Work Skills Programme and Warehouse Skills Booster Course at the Job Gym if you:

  • Are aged 19 or over
  • Have left compulsory full-time education
  • Are unemployed or are being made redundant

What you will learn...

Edexcel Level 1 Award in Work Skills

The purpose of this qualification is to help you get a job.
It can help give you the confidence to enter the workplace and develop your skills to research employment opportunities, apply for jobs, and prepare for and take part in interviews. It will also help you to identify further training and development you may need to succeed in the job you are looking for.

  • Preparing yourself for work
  • Managing your finances
  • Preparing for your interview
  • Presenting yourself effectively
  • What’s expected of you in the workplace

OCR Level 1 or Level 2 Certificate in Basic Skills

The Job Gym provides coaching to help you improve your literacy and/or numeracy skills. These are the skills you use in your everyday working life, such as reading, writing and maths.

Learning at your own pace you will be coached by one of our Skills for Life tutors in a way that is applicable to everyday use in the logistics sector.

EDI Level 1 Award in Warehousing and Storage

This qualification gives you the knowledge and skills to get a job within the warehousing and storage sector. Your competence will be assessed against nationally set standards for the sector.

  • Health and safety in the workplace
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of equipment
  • Placing goods in storage
  • Keeping work areas clean
  • Using equipment to move goods

Pedestrian Operated Lift Truck licence

The course also includes training to get an RTITB Pedestrian Operated Lift Truck licence.
